The Cardinals scored first when Michael Floyd managed to keep both feet in on a touchdown grab.
Michael Floyd has been big for the Cardinals all season. Their receiving core is deep, but you could argue Floyd’s the best one after Larry Fitzgerald dropped off near the end of the season. While some are discrediting Arizona’s chances against the Panthers or the Cardinals, they came into this Divisional Round game proving that they belong. And after Bruce Arians’ fourth-down conversion paid off, Carson Palmer found Floyd in the endzone for a highlight-reel touchdown:
He showed great leaping ability to come up with the ball, but the fact that he was able to drag both of his feet in-bounds was the real highlight of this catch. The Cardinals couldn’t have asked for a better start to the game.
There were doubts about how far Arizona could go in the playoffs after they got shelled 36-6 in the regular season finale against the Seahawks. It’s always tough having to go up against Aaron Rodgers, but Carson Palmer has been the third-best quarterback this season, and could even make a case for Comeback Player of the Year. For as good as their defense has been, and despite Honey Badger’s injury being a big loss, their depth at offense can more than make up for it. This is a balanced team that has the capabilities to make serious noise against the NFL’s best.
