Center Mike Richards will be making his Washington Capitals debut on Saturday night as the Caps play the Buffalo Sabres

The Washington Capitals signed free agent center Mike Richards ten days ago. Ever since then, Caps fans have wondered when they’ll get to see Richards in action. That question has been answered by the Capitals morning skate lineups on Saturday ahead of their 7:00 PM matchup with the Buffalo Sabres. It looks like Richards will be making his debut for Caps as their fourth line center. Richards is number 10.

The Caps likely didn’t have much choice with their center depth dwindling. They’ll get to see if Richards is healthy and conditioned enough to contribute. He’ll be playing fourth line minutes so that should make things much easier for him. Expect Richards to be heavily involved on the Caps penalty kill, especially with Jay Beagle and Brooks Laich out.

Their fourth line features three capable centers in Zach Sill, Richards, and Michael Latta. That likely means that the trio will split faceoff duties. The Caps are looking to win their sixth straight game. Should they win against the Sabres this evening, the Caps will sweep the Sabres in their season series with them. The Caps won both games against them in December.

Mike Richards will be playing in his first game since April of 2015.
