The Nets began the week by firing their head coach and their general manager.

At the same time.

In January.

That, in and of itself, provides strong rationale for including Brooklyn in the bottom five this week, but the Nets are also bad on the court. Brooklyn sits at 11-29 on the year and, to be frank, there is little reason for optimism or hope given the state of the team’s draft picks and current roster.

To be fair, the Nets have displayed the ability to play competent basketball at times this season, and they should be at least partially commended for that. Still, Brooklyn is an unadulterated disaster from top to bottom, and that can’t be overlooked.
. (11-29). Previous: . Brooklyn Nets. 4. team. 147

(13-28). Previous: . Phoenix Suns. 3. team. 66.
Since Dec. 20, the Suns have been the league’s worst team by a comfortable margin. Over the course of 13 games, Phoenix has been outscored by 13.4 points per 100 possessions, and that figure includes a ghastly defensive rating of 111.6 points per 100.

Much of the focus has been taken away from Phoenix’s slide by the mess in Brooklyn and the fact that the Suns played only two games this week, but that will fade away quickly if the sub-standard play persists. The roster, without Eric Bledsoe, is pretty ugly, and until Markieff Morris is dealt (which is a mortal lock), the chemistry probably won’t improve.

It’s kind of amazing that there are two teams ahead of Phoenix on this list, but that’s where we are.
