Bengals cornerback Pacman Jones held to his word and apologized to Steelers receiver Antonio Brown
The ripples from a crazy Wild Card game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers have been felt all week from suspensions to talk back-and-forth between the two teams. The most vocal of those has been Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, who publicly called out Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown for “acting” after Vontaze Burfict hit him in the head on a dirty play that levied a penalty and a suspension for the Bengals player.
Pacman wouldn’t back down from his stance that Brown was legitimately injured on the play, saying that he wouldn’t apologize for saying that the Steelers receiver was acting until Brown didn’t play in Pittsburgh’s Divisional matchup against the Denver Broncos. So, when Brown was officially ruled out on Friday due to a concussion, Jones held to his word when he posted an apology to Instagram:
To Pacman’s credit, he could have just hid and tried to duck this story, but he owned up to his mistakes and sent what seems like an at least mildly sincere apology Brown’s way.
However, that really doesn’t fully cleanse Jones of the entire situation. Not only did his actions during the game cost Cincinnati 15 yards in a crucial moment due to a penalty, but he also had an expletive-laden rant and then the whole debacle with Brown following him after the game. He’s certainly done much worse throughout his career, but this might be the first time he’s ever owned up to one of those mistakes so willingly.
