Report: Mike Mularkey to be hired as permanent head coach of Tennessee Titans
By Jack Crosby
The Tennessee Titans will indeed be sticking with Mike Mularkey as their head coach.
Well it looks like one of the worst kept secrets of this NFL coaching carousel will finally become a reality. On Saturday as the NFL Playoffs are continuing on, it’s reported that the Tennessee Titans will just be sticking with Mike Mularkey as their head coach going forward.
Again, this isn’t really news that will shock anyone, as this has been the move we all expected the Titans to make once the season came to a close.
Mularkey was the head coach of the team for a good portion of this past regular season. Following the organization deciding in early November that they were through with Ken Whisenhunt, Mularkey was promoted to the head coaching position from tight ends coach, and it seems he won the organization over from there.
As for head coaching experience, this will become his third full-time gig as a head coach in the NFL. Back in 2004 and 2005 he was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, finishing up with a 14-18 record. He was then the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars for one season in 2012, going just 2-14. As the interim coach of the Titans in 2015, he compiled a 2-7 record.
