No. 6 Villanova Wildcats vs Georgetown Hoyas

Villanova is one of those teams that could run away with the Big East crown if it keeps up the type of effort that it has put forth since the Wildcats’ loss to Virginia eight games ago. Villanova has won seven straight and is ranked No. 6 in the country, taking down No. 18 Butler and blowing out then-No. 6 Xavier by 31 points in the process.

Josh Hart has really taken over as the leader of the team, averaging 15.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting about 54 percent from the field. Daniel Ochefu is another guy to watch as he could cause some problems in the post for Georgetown. The big man is averaging 10.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game and is shooting over 60 percent from the field.

Georgetown began the season as a ranked team, but losing three of its first four games of the year was a recipe for disaster. The Hoyas dropped out of the rankings and all NCAA Tournament hopes seemed to be lost. Since that rough start, Georgetown is 10-3 and looking to make a serious run toward March — the talent is there.

D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera has been incredible for the Hoyas this season, leading the team with 16.3 points per contest while dishing 4.4 assists per game. If Georgetown is in need of offense, he’s usually there to pick up the slack. He will need to be on his game Saturday if the Hoyas are going to pull off the upset against sixth-ranked Villanova.
