C.J. Anderson scored the Denver Broncos’ first playoff touchdown dating back to last year, and it may have put them up for good.

The Denver Broncos haven’t scored a playoff touchdown in 22 possessions. The last time they did was in the first quarter against the Colts last season. While their defense has been exceptional as always, it looked like their terrible offensive play would lose them the game. But C.J. Anderson stepped up at a big time to give the Broncos the lead:

Demaryius Thomas added the two-point conversion to put the Broncos up by a count of 20-13. Of course, that offensive drive was started off by DeMarcus Ware recovering a crucial fumble.

The Broncos have had the NFL’s best defense all season. When looking at the offense, it’s a wonder why the Broncos are the first seed in the AFC, but it’s their defense that wins them games so often and sets the catalyst. If the Broncos hang on to win, the story will inevitably be surrounding Brady vs. Manning, but it should be Brady vs. Ware or Talib because Denver’s defense is playing at a Super Bowl-caliber level.
