Real Madrid embarrassed Sporting Gijon on Sunday, scoring five goals in the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Zinedine Zidane-era at Real Madrid got off to a flying start, after they crushed Deportivo La Coruna 5-0 last week. On Sunday, it was much of the same against Sporting Gijon, with Los Blancos embarrassing their opponents at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It took just seven minutes for Gareth Bale to find the back of the net and score the opener for the home side, beating Sporting Gijon goalkeeper, Ivan Cuellar.
Zidane’s men were far from done there though, with Cristiano Ronaldo doubling his club’s lead just two minutes later.
Although Real Madrid were already up 2-0, Benzema may have stolen the show in the 12th minute with a fantastic bicycle kick goal. It was the club’s third goal within just five minutes of each other.

Benzema would also score a brace before the half, making it 5-0 in the 41st minute of the game. Although, it must be said his second goal was nowhere as spectacular as his first.

The game went into the break with Real Madrid up 5-0. ensuring they scored at least five goals for both matches that Zidane has been behind the bench. The club came into the match sitting third in the La L:iga table, and were clearly looking to make a statement.
