When is the AFC Championship game: Broncos vs. Patriots?
By Mike Dyce
Everything you need to know about the AFC Championship game between the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots?
The Denver Broncos somehow managed to steal home-field advantage away from the New England Patriots down the stretch of the season, and how important that has become. Next Sunday, on January 23rd, the Broncos will welcome the Patriots to Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the AFC Championship game.
The game will be the earlier of the two conference championship games and will kick off at 3:05 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on CBS. If you believe altitude plays a factor in athletic competitions, it could be the edge the Broncos need to beat the Patriots.
This very well could be the final game of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s career, the big storyline of the game, and how fitting of a finale it will be. To reach his second Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos to pursue that elusive second ring, Manning will need to beat his old nemesis in Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
This has been an increasingly friendly era to quarterbacks and Manning has stood head and shoulders above his peers, with the exception of Brady. While Manning might own more records, Brady owns more rings, and at times has taken records away from Manning.
Either way it is a fitting and intriguing storyline, Manning’s career ending at the hands of Brady or Manning getting past Brady on the biggest stage to reach the Super Bowl once again.
