Jarmal Reid was ejected on Sunday and suspended for tripping a referee on the court.

No matter how frustrated you are, there are certain things that you should just not do on the basketball court. One of those things that you should never do is trip a referee, and this was a memo that no one gave to Oregon State’s Jarmal Reid.

Sunday the Beavers were taking on the Utah Utes, and with time winding down in the second half, Reid was tripped up on the court as he was going for a loose ball. Now, yes, whenever you get tripped up on the court you’re going to be frustrated, but there are better ways to show the referee what exactly happened on the play.

You know — don’t do this.

Now as if this act alone wasn’t bad enough, it took place when Oregon State was battling close with Utah. This happened when the game was all tied up with three minutes to go, so in reality Reid put his teammates in a really bad position because he was ejected for the tripping, obviously. If you trip a referee, your day on the court is guaranteed to be done.

The ejection wasn’t where this ended, though. Nope, Reid, as expected, will now be serving a minimum four-game suspension.
