Raptors guard Kyle Lowry jumped at the chance to troll teammate DeMar DeRozan and the latter’s USC education
The Toronto Raptors and the Orlando Magic played across the pond in London on Thursday in what was the Raptors’ third game in Europe. However, the players were 0-2 in the first two games on another continent, so they were hoping for a bit more success, especially the Toronto starting backcourt of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan just had a little bit relaying his desire to win and Lowry was there to troll him for it.
When talking to reporters, DeRozan miscalculated when he said that he and the Raptors hoped to leave the game against the Magic with a 1-3 record in Europe. This quickly caught Lowry’s ear as he called his teammate on it before DeRozan realized the error of his ways and tried to recover by saying he meant one-out-of-three games. Lowry simply shook his head, though, before patting DeRozan on the shoulder and trolling DeRozan’s alma-mater by simply saying, “USC, baby:”
Regardless of if you agree with Lowry’s assessment of USC in this situation—Lowry being a Villanova Wildcats product for what it’s worth—it’s pretty great to see how well these two Raptors guards jell with one another. They truly seem like they have chemistry on and off the court, which is one of those ineffable qualities that not many teams around the league have to their credit.
