Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said that Eddie Lacy can’t come back to the Packers out of shape.

It seems as if it wasn’t long ago that Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was being talked about as the next big running back in the NFL. Now it seems like if he doesn’t get his weight under control, he could soon be out of a job.

Lacy had an interesting season that saw playing time reduced in games and not making as much of an impact as he was early on in his career. His weight was a big issue and it was clear that it was holding him back from being as good as in previous years.

With Lacy showing no signs yet of getting his weight under control, he is slowly running out of chances in Green Bay and he could very well be down to his last chance with the Packers this offseason.

Head coach Mike McCarthy was straight forward when gave his thoughts on Lacy and his weight.

"“Eddie’s got a lot of work to do,” McCarthy said. “I’m stating the obvious. His offseason last year was not what it should be and he never recovered from it. He cannot play at the weight he did this year.”"

That’s a pretty strong indicator that McCarthy and the Packers have about had it with Lacy and his inability to stay in shape. With the rigors of the NFL season and the Packers having a proud tradition of competing at the highest level, there’s not going to be a lot of patience for Lacy and his weight issues.

They’ve been patient enough already and there have been questions about his weight since he came into the league. Next season will be his fourth in the league and if he’s not careful about his weight, it won’t be with Green Bay.
