The Oklahoma Sooners are the latest No. 1 team in college basketball to lose and Twitter had some thoughts

Apparently being the No. 1-ranked team in college basketball is the worst thing that can happen to teams right now. No. 1s have been dropping like flies over the past few weeks. The same can be said again on Monday night as the newly minted No. 1 team in the country in the Oklahoma Sooners went on the road and fell to the Iowa State Cyclones.

It wasn’t a huge upset as Georges Niang and the Cyclones were actually favored on their home court and have proven to be a high-quality basketball team already this season on a number of occasions. Moreover, it was a fantastic contest between the two Big 12 giants that went down to the final seconds before Iowa State pulled out the win.

Even worse for the Sooners, their ranking atop the polls didn’t even last a full 24 hours before they were knocked off. It’s a rough time to be No. 1 and everyone on Twitter took notice as they had plenty of things to say on the social media platform after the Oklahoma loss:

The Cyclones certainly are running wild, brother. Then again, so is apparently any team facing off with No. 1 at this point.
