Fantasy Basketball: Waiver Wire January 19

We are moving extremely quickly through this fantasy basketball season and it will be over before we know it. It is hard to believe also that January is almost already over as well. Soon we will be upon the NBA trade deadline where you can make a huge splash in your fantasy league and we will have yo covered with the moves you need to make.

We have a few players that you can add to your roster that we believe will help you keep your fantasy basketball team competitive and on top of your league.

Robert Covington is having another one of his now famous resurgences. He has battled injuries some of this season and has battled a fluid roster system on the worse team in the league. He will probably continue to have his ups and downs, but he is a good player to go ahead and ride while he is playing well.

Trey Lyles will continue to be a solid play while Derrick Favors is out nursing a bad back. Lyles is only 20 years old and may have earned himself a decent enough role to stay valuable in large leagues of 16 teams or more.

Ersan Ilyasova is another guy who seems to always be very streaky. Sometimes he is very good as he is now, and sometimes he is very bad or hurt. I would suggest going ahead and picking him up as soon as you can and riding him until he gets hurt.

Taj Gibson should be one of the main beneficiaries to the injury of Joakim Noah. In the wake of that injury Gibson has had double-digit rebounds in three of his last four games and has seen a bit of a minute increase.

Nikola Jokic has been playing very well over his last seven games or so and should be owned in a lot more leagues than what he is now. Jokic could easily be a double-double machine if he is given the time and so far that seems to be the trend.

Marcus Smart is also seeming to finally come into his own. He had a triple-double on the 15th and is riding a nice little three game hot streak. Smart is loaded with upside and as long as he stays healthy he should only get better.

Zach LaVine is my stash for now. If you have a spot to burn, then in my opinion he would be a great one to burn it on. I just have a gut feeling that after the All-Star Break he is going to be a factor for fantasy leagues. Of course it could just be the Taco Bell I had for dinner.
