Chelsea are reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi.
It has been more than a disappointing season for Chelsea. They sacked their apparent savior in Jose Mourinho. They aren’t yet safe from relegation, which is ridiculous to put in writing, and could be set to lose some key player come the summer if they want to pursue Champions League football elsewhere.
However, it looks as though they still have some clout in the transfer market as they are reportedly interested in brining in Paris Saint-Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi. The Argentinian has been one of the star players in European football over the past few seasons, both in Paris and with Napoli beforehand, and he would be a coup for a side set to be without European football next year.
Lavezzi is not young anymore, however. He is now 30 and is entering the latter stages of his career with perhaps only one more big move left in him. In search of trophies and a big pay day, Stamford Bridge could well be where he finds himself come next year. Although Chelsea have a lot of options in the attacing midfield department, another player who can come in and improve the squad is always a positive, especially someone of Lavezzi’s quality.
Furthermore, his contract expires in the Summer meaning that he will be available on a free transfer. A player of such quality and only having to pay his wages seems like an absolute no brainer. He would undoubtedly be a good signing. The only question is whether he would want to join a club struggling to stay up!
