TSN 1050 in Toronto makes a mistake quoting James van Riemsdyk trade

In social media it is always taught that you have to watch what you say. That was forgotten this week at the hands of TSN Radio 1050 relating to an article about the Toronto Maple Leafs and their star forward James van Riemsdyk.

On Jan. 19, word leaked out via the TSN 1050 radio Twitter account that the Maple Leafs had dealt their star forward, James van Riemsdyk, to the New York Rangers.

Later Greg Wyshynski, also known as Puck Daddy, reported that TSN 1050 had made a mistake with the tweet. The original tweet about the trade was quickly removed by the Toronto sports radio station.

While he could be dealt before the Feb. 29 trade deadline, nothing appears imminent. The Maple Leafs are in a rebuild and promised their fans ‘pain.’ They are currently three points removed from being the worst team in the National Hockey League. Dealing van Riemsdyk could fetch a nice hauls of picks and/or players, as he sits with 29 points.

van Riemsdyk is on the injured reserve for the next two months with a fracture in his left foot. The last game he played was against the San Jose Sharks in a 7-0 thrashing of the Maple Leafs.

The Toronto fan base is hoping that the team strips high-price talent. The projected first-overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Auston Matthews, will be a hot commodity this summer.
