Josh Gordon is applying for reinstatement after being banned indefinitely for alcohol abuse.

Josh Gordon is an incredible talent. That much is indisputable. He was suspended indefinitely on February 3, 2015 for failing an alcohol test after being reinstated by the league under the condition that he would undergo regular alcohol tests following a DWI arrest in 2014.

He now hopes to end his indefinite ban and prove to everyone that not only is he great on the field, but he has been able to sort himself out off of it. Acording to ESPN, Gordon is hoping the NFL will allow his return, at which point he will return to the Cleveland Browns with new head coach Hue Jackson.

Gordon’s future is far from certain. However, per NFL rules, a decision will be made within 60 days of receipt of his submission for reinstatement. That would give him plenty of time to prepare with the Browns for the upcoming season, if he was indeed allowed back in the league.

There is controversey surrounding Gordon, and it is unsure as to whether the Browns would be willing to bring back such a character. He has one year remaining on his rookie contract since he did not play enough games in 2015 to render the year official. It would therefore be up to Jackson and the Browns as to whether Gordon would return with the club or with another franchise, if the NFL deem him fit.

This is a story that will run and run throughout the off season. However, the wheels have been set in motion. It will be an intriguing watch over the next few months.
