NHL Trade Rumors: Nashville Predators looking to add more forwards
The Nashville Predators are likely not be done trading for forwards even after trading for Ryan Johansen
The Nashville Predators started 2016 off with a bang by trading defenseman Seth Jones to the Columbus Blue Jackets to get Ryan Johansen. Johansen gives the Predators a legitimate number one center. Even after that huge trade, the Predators might not be done adding offense. They are still actively looking to add forwards as they try to bring a Stanley Cup to Nashville.
“We have to get more production, more consistency, so that would be the first place I would look,” Predators general manager David Poile said, via ESPN. “But I’m just open to ideas and anything that might come along. You know how hard it is to make a trade but for whatever reason it seems to open up more at the trade deadline.”
The Nashville Predators feel the pressure to add more offense because defenseman Shea Weber and goalie Pekka Rinne aren’t getting any younger. The Predators likely have a Stanley Cup window of about two to three seasons if they want to win a Stanley Cup while they still have Weber and Rinne as productive players.
The Predators will likely be calling the Toronto Maple Leafs quite a bit over the next month or so until the trade deadline. The Leafs and Predators made a deal last season and once again, the Leafs seem to have some parts that the Predators could covet. Brad Boyes and P.A. Parenteau will both be free agents after this season and would give the Predators some scoring depth. The Predators might also be interested in forward Leo Komarov but it is expected that the Leafs will want a lot for him.
