Phil Mickelson used a lob wedge to land a shot off the flag pole and back into the hole for an eagle.

Not many players have spin on the ball like Phil Mickelson in golf.

One the par-4 eighth hole at the CareerBuilder Challenge, Mickelson made one crazy eagle in style. Standing off not far from the green at the eighth, Mickelson hit a nice lobbed shot with his lob wedge that hit nailed the flag stick.

If hitting the flag stick right on the dot wasn’t crazy enough, the ball then rolled about eight yards back straight into the hole for an unbelievable eagle.

What makes this shot so incredible by Mickelson is the backspin of the golf ball. Not only was it amazing that it had enough to roll eight yards back in for eagle, but the fact that it still maintained spin after hitting the flag stick.

For most golfers, the flag stick would have derailed the momentum of the spin and it would be anyone’s guess where the ball ends up after. That wasn’t the case for Mickelson however, as he hit the ball with the lob wedge just enough to give it the right spin even if it the flag stick.

There’s not many golfers that can put the level of backspin on a ball quite like Mickelson. The 2016 golf year is just underway and Mickelson has already hit one of the craziest shots that will be seen this year.
