5 players that lost the MLB offseason
Which players did not have the best MLB offseason?
The MLB offseason is quickly coming to a close with Spring Training beginning for teams in a few weeks. Many shook up their rosters over the past few months with trades and free agent signings to try to improve. Big names changed teams while others re-signed with their clubs for big money.
Some players walked out winners from the MLB offseason. Notables include Zack Greinke and David Price, who received $200-plus million from new teams in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox, respectively. The former may have been the most surprising transaction of the offseason, as it was thought he would go back to the Los Angeles Dodgers. After sitting on free agency for a while, Chris Davis recently received a contract from the Baltimore Orioles that will pay him into his 50’s and beyond with deferred money. It shows how crazy these contracts are becoming.
However, there has also been players who haven’t fared too well. There are a few surprising names still left on the free agent market while others were left in bad situations on their current teams due to transactions. It’s the middle of Jan. and names like Yoenis Cespedes, Howie Kendrick, Dexter Fowler, among others are still left to be signed. They were all possibilities to get big contracts, but that may not be likely anymore with teams having already spent their available cash over the past two months.
There are probably more than five losers in this year’s MLB offseason, but here are the players who had the worst of them all.
