Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle had some strong feelings about the Cleveland Cavaliers firing David Blatt.

Ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers fired head coach David Blatt on Friday, there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not the Cavaliers made the right move. In his season-and-a-half with the Cavaliers, Blatt coached the team to the NBA Finals and the Cavaliers had the best record in the Eastern Conference to date this season.

However, it was clear that there were issues with Cleveland and the front office felt pretty clearly that Blatt wasn’t doing a good enough job to remain as their head coach. While the Cavaliers fired Blatt and feel good about their decision, one coach in the NBA disagrees with their move.

Dallas Mavericks head coach and NBA Coaches Association president, Rick Carlisle, had some strong words regarding Blatt being fired.

Like many people, Carlisle feels that the whole situation is bizarre. Carlisle has always been one of the most respected coaches in the NBA and there’s a reason that he has been able to have long stops in his coaching career.

Carlisle has always done a good job of sticking up for his fellow coaches in the league and it’s clear that he is not happy with the decision that the Cavaliers made.

While the Cavaliers were having issues this season that weren’t reflective of a championship team, that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily all Blatt’s fault. Carlisle as a coach understands what goes into being a coach, which makes it understandable as to why he feels so strongly.
