San Antonio Spurs vs Los Angeles Lakers

Could the San Antonio Spurs possibly get any hotter this season? It’s starting to look like the Spurs just don’t know how to lose, posting the second-best record in the Western Conference and just a Warriors loss or two away from jumping into first place. San Antonio has the perfect mixture of veteran leadership and young talent.

The Spurs have a sizable 12-and-a-half-game lead in the Southwest Division and will be looking to extend that before the All-Star break. Kawhi Leonard is the future leader of this team and as soon as Tony Parker and Tim Duncan retire, he will be the top dog. He’s currently leading the team with 20.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as well as being one of the league’s top defenders.

The Los Angeles Lakers, on the other hand, are one of the NBA’s worst teams, posting a 9-35 record through the first half-plus of the year. Los Angeles is just one of two teams in the league who haven’t reached the double-digit win mark this season — and that’s not the proper send-off for Kobe Bryant, who’s retiring at the end of the year.

Kobe’s averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game, but he’s shooting a mediocre 35 percent from the field or 25 percent from the three-point line. Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle  are the future of this team and even though they don’t look good now, the Lakers have a pretty bright future.
