Steve Kerr is set to make his first coaching appearance of the season after missing 43 games to back surgery.
This season just keeps getting better for the 39-4 Golden State Warriors, as on Friday they announced Steve Kerr will be coaching for the first time since Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The San Francisco Chronicle was the first to pass along the good news:
Warriors announce that Steve Kerr is coaching tonight.

Interim coach Luke Walton has done a tremendous job in relief. As the Warriors look to try and equal or better the historic 1995-96 Bulls, he got them out to a 24-0 start and the team is currently coming off of back-to-back blowout wins over the Bulls and Cavaliers, both on the road. There was some controversy over whether Luke Walton would actually get credit for those wins (he won’t), but the team will still be grateful for the success it has had under him.
The Warriors are showing no signs of a championship hangover, and have demolished practically every team that’s stood in their way. If they repeat this season, it would be the first time since the Miami Heat did it in 2012 and 2013. As Kerr knows this group well and coached them to a championship, they should have no problem adjusting to his offensive scheme. However, they should be glad to have him back before they play the San Antonio Spurs for the first time on Monday. The Spurs are only two games behind the Warriors and have looked equally as impressive this season.
