ESPN talking head and failed quarterback Danny Kanell wants the Broncos to hit Tom Brady after the whistle on Sunday.

Danny Kanell, who you may not remember from his three years with the New York Giants in the 1990s, is saying things again that are making us all roll our eyes. While you may not remember him from his playing days in the NFL,which are mere tears in the rain at this point, you might know him for the dumb things he says on national television — the latest of which involves Tom Brady and the Broncos hitting him low on Sunday.

Kanell, who played in less than 45 percent of the games he was on roster for, said this week that Tom Brady needs to be on the receiving end of late hits from the Broncos in the AFC Championship game.

Here’s what Kanell said about the Broncos hitting Brady after the whistle:

"I think they have to have two personal foul calls, like 15-yarders against Brady. Like, they’ve been talking about him crying, I almost feel like this is the type of game where you have to send a message like in the first and second quarter, the first half, hit him a couple of times where it’s a little past the whistle. Like, let him know you’re around."

While also acting as a scorching hot take, this helps end the mystery of who licked all glue sticks out in Bristol yesterday afternoon.

This is what happens when you live in a First Take world where the stupidest and loudest thing is always the right thing to say. No, Kanell was not directly saying the Broncos should take out Brady at the knees or cheap shot him, he merely implied it. That makes it okay to say, right?

Either way, this is a pretty bad look for Kanell and ESPN. Maybe people should start hitting Kanell during commercial breaks, just to let him know they’re there.
