Jose Mourinho writes letter to Manchester United
According to ESPN FC, Jose Mourinho has written a letter to Manchester United explaining how much he wants to be their head coach, and a detailed plan on how the team would play under him.
Despite leading Chelsea to a Premier League title last year, Jose Mourinho didn’t even make it to January this season. The club struggled to regain the stellar form they had shown during the last campaign, and management decided it was time for the Portuguese tactician to leave.
The 52-year-old isn’t expected to be unemployed very long though, with a number of clubs said to be interested in his services. The head coach has won a plethora of domestic trophies across Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain, and as also won the UEFA Champions League twice.
There is only one club that Mourinho wants to coach next, however, according to a report from ESPN FC. The outlet claims that the former Chelsea boss has written a six-page letter to Manchester United, explaining how much he would like to be their next head coach and that he would be willing to conform to club principles. He also outlined his plans for the club and how they would play under his tutelage.
While Mourinho has become a legend at Stamford Bridge for leading the Blues to three Premier League titles, it has long been thought that the coach always wanted to sit on the bench at Old Trafford. When Sir Alex Ferguson retired, Mourinho was believed to be in the running for the gig after ultimately losing out to David Moyes.
Manchester United lost again on Saturday, falling to Southampton 1-0 at home. It remains to be seen whether Mourinho will ever be in charge of the Red Devils, but it doesn’t look like Louis van Gaal will be around very much longer.
