Chelsea are looking at current Juventus head coach, Massimiliano Allegri, to take over at Stamford Bridge next season.
Despite winning the Premier League last season, Jose Mourinho was sacked at Chelsea following a difficult start to the season. Guus Hiddink was named caretaker manager in December, as the club wanted more time to find a permanent replacement.
According to reports out of England, it looks as though the Blues have found their guy. The Sun, is claiming that Chelsea have decided to go after current Juventus boss, Massimiliano Allegri, who led his club to a domestic double and a UEFA Champions League final last season.
The Italian tactician has never coached outside the peninsula, but has had a plethora of success within his native country. The 48-year-old has two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia, and two Supercoppa Italiana victories, to his name. He has also taken home Serie A Coach of the Year honors in both 2011 and 2015.
However, when Allegri was asked by the press about being linked with the Chelsea gig, he reaffirmed his commitment to Juventus.
“It feels normal. When you coach a team like Juventus, that’s the way it is,” Allegri said, via Sky Sports. “But I’m fine here and it’s only normal that my focus is on what I have to do here.”
The Bianconeri currently sit in second place in the Italian top flight, but have now won 10 consecutive league matches. They also reached the semi-final of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday after defeating Lazio, and will take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16.
