According to Southampton head coach Ronald Koeman, all reports linking him with a Chelsea gig are ‘bull****’.
It is no secret that Chelsea have suffered throughout the current campaign. They sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table in 14th spot, with just 25 points after 22 matches played. Despite winning the Premier League title last year, Jose Mourinho didn’t even make it to Christmas time with the club this season, and Guus Hiddink has only been named as the caretaker manager in the mean time.
With the future of the club up in the air, many names have been tossed around as to who will be on the bench at Stamford Bridge next season. Earlier on Saturday, reports emerged out of Italy that the Blues were looking at Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri, who led the club to the UEFA Champions League final last year. There has also been talk about Chelsea trying to land Pep Guardiola, but that may be too tall of a task with both Manchester clubs said to be interested in the Spaniard as well.
One man who promises he will not be arriving in London anytime soon, though, is Southampton boss, Ronald Koeman. After his side shocked Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, the Dutchman was asked about reports in the English press that he could potentially take a job with Chelsea. Koeman dismissed the reports as complete trash, as he refused to hold back in his response.
“That’s the problem when you do an interview in Dutch. It’s all bulls***. You can’t win when you talk to them,” he told members of the media at a press conference, via Goal.
“I continue at Southampton and I still have one year on my contract.”
Southampton have done well under Koeman, and currently sit in 8th place with 33 points from 23 games.
