Not everybody knows about Shaquille O’Neal’s alternate career as a police officer. He was sworn in as a reserve police officer in South Florida just a little over a year ago, and has spent time with the Orlando police force in the past. So when Gainesville PD called up Shaq about needing backup on noise complaint he was more than happy to help. Although this time he was helping out in a different way.

The officer originally joined this group of kids in a game of pickup basketball, and he told them he was gonna join them again once he got some backup. I’m not sure those kids ever expected that backup to be one of the greatest centers to ever play the game.

Moments like this are great, and it’s awesome to see Shaq take some time to go hangout with a group of teenagers that are clearly overjoyed to get to play with him.
