Tyronn Lue has wasted no time in throwing serious shade at David Blatt.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers fired head coach David Blatt on Friday, it came as a shock but one that didn’t last too long. Once you peeled back the winning streak gleam that people leaned on as a defense for Blatt, the problems the Cavaliers have seemed more than enough for Blatt to lose his job.

One of the biggest problems was Blatt’s utter inability to be a leader and win the locker room — something his replacement, Tyronn Lue, seems to have already done. Time will tell if Lue is the right guy for the job, but he’s wasting no time in thrown shade that his roster of players probably wanted to toss out at numerous times over the past year and a half.

When talking about what how things will be run under him instead of Blatt, Lue made sure to clarify that ‘better’ is the term that should be used.

That’s shade — serious shade. Blatt was clearly not liked at all in the Cleveland locker room, as the guy who is stepping into his shoes is tap dancing on his grave before his body is even cold.

He kind of had to do this though, as Lue needs to set himself apart from Blatt in the eyes of the general public sooner rather than later. Blatt might not have coddled LeBron and company too much early on, but the perception of him being a cheerleader was run with and didn’t help him in the end.

Lue is a former player though, and if there was anyone in that locker room who was going to identify with the struggles the team was feeling under Blatt, it was Lue. Not only has Lue seen this before in his career but he was also serving under Blatt and having to deal with whatever the hell was going on.

There will probably be a Jeff Pearlman book written about this someday that we’ll all happily read. But for now, Lue needs to back up his bark with bite that the Cavaliers had been sorely lacking this season under their now former coach.
