Archie Goodwin nailed this game-winner for the Phoenix Suns in Saturday night’s game.

The 2015-2016 NBA season has not fared well for the Phoenix Suns. Coming into Saturday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, they were 14-31 and could use a win for a morale boost.

Well, they got it.

To close out the game, the Suns put the ball in shooting guard Archie Goodwin’s hands. He is only averaging 13 minutes per game, so this was an interesting decision. However, it paid off as Goodwin hit a last-second, game-winning three-point shot to send Phoenix to their 15th win of the season. There was only 00.1 second left on the clock when the shot went in.

Goodwin hitting this shot is kind of unexpected, as he came into the game shooting 22-percent from beyond the arc.

It’s hard to believe the former Kentucky player is already in his third season, despite being just 21-years-old. He hasn’t been sharp but has upped his PPG to 6.1 this season. It was at 5.6 in 2014-2015. Poor free throw shooting, and, as noted, his three-point game aren’t strong suits. In today’s NBA, guards are expected to be able to hit perimeter shots, so this could be why Goodwin hasn’t played much for the struggling Suns.

Maybe this will be a boost for Goodwin going forward.
