Aritz Aduriz scored an incredible bicycle kick goal against Eibar on Sunday.
Last year, a Brazilian by the name of Wendell Lira took home the prestigious Puskas award for the best goal of the year, with a stunning bicycle kick. Although 2016 is still very young, we may have seen the first candidate for this year’s Puskas award on Sunday morning.
Athletic Bilbao found themselves down 1-0 at home to Eibar in La Liga action, after just four minutes of play. Borja Baston opened the scoring for the visitors, but the lead would be short-lived. Just eight minutes after Baston’s goal, Aritz Aduriz scored what may be the goal of the season. In the 12th minute, the Spaniard leveled the game with this astounding bicycle goal.
Athletic Bilbao would eventually win the game 5-2, with Aduriz adding another one after halftime in the 52nd minute. The striker is having a stellar campaign, finding the back of the net an impressive 13 times in league play already this season. He also has four assists to his name as well.
With the victory, Athletic Bilbao now sit eighth in the Spanish top flight, with 31 points from 21 matches. They take on Barcelona in midweek Copa del Rey action, after losing the first leg of the aggregate series 2-1 against the Catalans this past Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Eibar still sit in sixth and in the race for a spot in Europe next season, with 33 points from 21 matches.
