Barack Obama and Michelle Obama will be interviewed before Super Bowl 50, but who will be interviewing them?
It’s a time-honored tradition for CBS to interview the President of the United States as part of the Super Bowl pre-show and that won’t be changing as President Barack Obama will indeed be interviewed on Feb. 7 prior to Super Bowl 50. However, what’s different this year is the circumstances surrounding the interview, including who will be conducting it and asking the questions.
News broke on Sunday morning that Gayle King, co-host of CBS This Morning, will be interviewing President Obama, but will also be interviewing of First Lady Michelle Obama as part of the segment. This actually changes a great deal what people should expect from the interview in relation to how things have gone in year’s past.
With King not having a notable background in politics and with the inclusion of the First Lady in the interview, the assumption can be made that this interview will not largely be focusing on any major political issues and will more than likely offer a more personal look at the Obamas in their last year in the White House.
This shouldn’t be wholly surprising considering that Obama is in the last year of his presidency and the fact that touching on anything political with Obama isn’t going to have much of an effect on viewers with the election on the horizon and Obama on his way out. Even still, it’ll be interesting to see how these changes and the switch to King as the interviewer affect things.
