The rundown on how to enjoy an adult beverage or several during the 2016 WWE Royal Rumble

The 2016 WWE Royal Rumble is upon wrestling fans with one of the company’s biggest shows of the year set to go down on Sunday, Jan. 24 in Orlando, FL. As if the Royal Rumble wasn’t already a big deal in the scope of WWE, this will also be the first time in WWE history that the company’s top champion will defend his title in the 30-man Royal Rumble match.

Moreover, every major title in the company will be on the line on Sunday night in the Amway Center. For those who won’t be in Orlando, though, you may be looking for a way to spice up your viewing experience a bit with a bit of fun and a few adult beverages.

In the spirit of that, why not play a drinking game for the Royal Rumble. Playing off all of the tropes of the show in years past and of the company in general right now, we’ve constructed a carefully considered drinking game that has different rules for every match as well as a few rules that last throughout the show.

Without further adieu, here is the FanSided Royal Rumble drinking game:

For the entire show

  • Drink whenever JBL says “MAGGLE” in reference to Michael Cole.
  • Drink at every mention of WrestleMania 32 even though the Rumble has no real bearing on the main event of Mania in the traditional sense.
  • If Sunny is mentioned at any point, finish your drink.
  • If someone points to a WrestleMania sign, drink for the duration of the point.

Kickoff Match

  • Drink at a mention of Mark Henry being the “World’s Strongest Man.”
  • Drink at the mention of Dudleyville.
  • Take three drinks if the Dudleys get or threaten to get a table
  • Take a drink because this match isn’t going to be great and you might need it

Divas Championship Match: Charlotte (c) vs Becky Lynch

  • Drink when commentary mentions the Divas Revolution.
  • Take three drinks every time that Ric Flair gets involved.
  • Drink at every unrelated chant from the crowd because they are bored.

Tag Team Championship Match: New Day (c) vs The Usos

  • Drink whenever “Francesca” is mentioned by New Day or commentary.
  • Drink at every “Uce…OH!” chant that The Usos try to do (entrance included).
  • Drink every time that New Day dances.
  • Take three drinks if Xavier Woods has a new instrument.

United States Championship Match: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs Kalisto

  • Drink if JBL mentions “the kick that won Del Rio the championship” at any point.
  • Drink when Kalisto hits any kind of crazy reversal.
  • Take three drinks if the League of Nations gets involved.
  • Take three drinks if Sin Cara returns to save Kalisto.

Intercontinental Championship Last Man Standing Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs Kevin Owens

  • Drink whenever Cole refers to Ambrose as a “Lunatic,” “unhinged,” or generally anything meaning crazy.
  • Drink whenever Kevin Owens puts on a chin lock.
  • Drink every time that a foreign object is used.
  • OPTIONAL, ILL-ADVISED RULE: Drink for the duration of each count-to-10

30-Man Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

  • Drink whenever they mentioned two winners having entered at No. 1 and then navigate around mentioning Chris Benoit.
  • Drink for the duration of Kofi Kingston’s avoiding elimination spot.
  • Drink for every “surprise entrant” into the rumble—this includes rumored guys like AJ Style.
  • Drink whenever commentary talks about how hard it’s going to be to eliminate a large guy like Big Show that has no chance of actually winning.
  • Drink whenever someone skins the cat to avoid elimination.
  • Take three drinks if someone botches a skin the cat.
  • Finish your drink if there is a 31st
  • Take three drinks if someone steals someone else’s entry spot by beating them up on the entrance ramp.
  • Drink whenever Cole says “Oh my God!” whenever an entrant’s music hits.
  • Drink for every superstar Brock Lesnar eliminates.

That’s the FanSided Royal Rumble drinking game. Feel free to add your own rules and to avoid the ones you don’t like.

Just enjoy the show and pray that WWE doesn’t do anything royally stupid with WrestleMania on the horizon.
