Will DeMarcus Ware retire from the NFL if the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl?

The Denver Broncos have reached their eighth Super Bowl thanks to a tremendous mixture of veteran and young talent. While they have many pieces in place for the future, there are a lot of questions that will be surrounding the futures of some veteran players on the Broncos after the Super Bowl.

DeMarcus Ware is going to the very first Super Bowl of his career this season with the Broncos and should the Broncos win, it could be the right time for Ware to go out on top. At 33 years old, Ware had another productive season in the league and was one of the top pass rushers for Denver during this run.

Ever since getting drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2005, Ware has been one of the best in the league every year at getting after the quarterback. Whether it was at defensive end or standing up as an outside linebacker, he always had one job and that was to get after the quarterback. He has done that job better than most throughout recent years.

Now with the Broncos playing in the Super Bowl and Ware with a chance to finally get himself a ring, it would be the perfect time to go out on top and call it a career. He has all the credentials to get in the Hall of Fame and adding a Super Bowl to his resume would put such a fitting touch on a tremendous career.

Throughout his career, Ware has been to nine Pro Bowls, he’s been an All-Pro four times and has led the league in sacks twice. He was the NFC Defensive Player of the Year once when he was with the Dallas Cowboys and he’s been consistently ranked in the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of the Year.

Another reason that could spur his retirement and make it a great time to go out on top would be the uncertainty of his future with the Broncos. While the organization would love to have his production, they are going to have to re-sign Von Miller and a bevy of other players with the cap space they have. This could very well make Ware a cap casualty, which would make him a free agent once again. Rather than bouncing around the league to find another new home, going out on top at the right time would avoid that stigma.

If he does retire after the Super Bowl, it’s likely he would probably retire as a member of the

Dallas Cowboys

. Even after being released by the franchise, Ware has always considered himself a Cowboy and wants to be in the Ring of Honor. His heart is in Dallas and that’s where he will probably call it a career.

Now all that remains is to see whether or not he will end one of the better defensive careers in this history of the NFL should the Broncos bring home the Lombardi Trophy.
