Juventus striker Paulo Dybala told media he has “a desire to play with Messi” after learning Barcelona were scouting him on Sunday.
Paulo Dybala has had a sensational campaign in his first season with Juventus. The Argentine made a big-money move to Turin from Palermo in the summer, but has not disappointed in the least. He has 12 goals and seven assists in 20 Serie A matches, and has found the back of the net four times in his last four games.
His performances on the pitch have been so impressive that he has been able to garner interest from some of the biggest teams across the continent, including Barcelona. It was discovered that the Catalans sent representatives to Turin on Sunday to watch Dybala in action during Juventus’s match against Roma.
The 22-year-old scored the only goal on the night, as Juventus earned a crucial three points in a 1-0 victory. Dybala’s game-winner ensured that the Bianconeri remain just two points behind Napoli for top spot in the league table. Following the match though, the striker insisted he had no clue that there were Barcelona representatives attending the game.
“To tell the truth, I did not know there were people of Barcelona in the stands,” Dybala said in quotes reported by Sport, via Goal.
“It makes me happy that things are going well for me and the team and we are going to show that we are able to give more in the future.”
He was then asked about whether he would like to play against Messi, and his response was quite interesting.
“No, I have a desire to play with Messi.”
Although the Argentine has been capped by his country three times, he has never played alongside the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Dybala is clearly enjoying life at the moment with Juventus, but it looks as though the Blaugrana may be able to pry him away if they really wanted to.
The Italian giants will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Inter in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final.
