Stephen Curry made one of the best defenders in the NBA, Kawhi Leonard, look silly while knocking down a three
The Golden State Warriors welcoming the San Antonio Spurs to ORACLE Arena on Monday night to do battle was billed as a historic matchup between the two best teams in the NBA. And while that’s what both teams were coming into the matchup, Warriors star point guard and reigning MVP Stephen Curry wanted to quickly establish just how dominant he and the Warriors could be even against another one of the best teams out there, even when being matched up with an elite defender in Kawhi Leonard.
Curry had a field day against the Spurs in the first half, no matter if Kawhi was trying to stick with him or not. In the second quarter, Curry got Leonard spinning with a fake cut and then sent him fumbling again once he had the ball as he lost him with a quick hesitation step-back for a silky three:
When Curry is playing at this level, there’s nothing anyone can do. Kawhi is legitimately one of the best defenders and probably the best perimeter defender in the NBA right now and Steph made him look foolish on this play and did so seemingly with ease. Though the Warriors may have taken a step back as of late, I think Curry and the defending champs are proving that they are ready to get back to pure domination.
