2. Yoenis Cespedes

Yes, he didn’t sign until recently, but Cespedes got everything he wanted and that’s why he is on this list.

Cespedes is going to get paid a ton next year. $25 million if he doesn’t opt-out. $27 million if he does.

If he opts-out, he has a chance to cash in again next off-season with a weak free agent class and teams like the New York Yankees having more  money to spend next season.

If he stays, he stays where he wanted to all along; with the New York Mets. Yes, he didn’t have a great postseason and struggled down the stretch, but make no mistake, the Mets don’t reach the playoffs, let alone the World Series without La Potencia.

Yes, Cespedes took less security to stay if the reports of the other offers were true, however, if New York is where he wanted to be then he made a good call.
