LSU stud freshman Ben Simmons threw down a gorgeous half-court alley-oop
LSU Tigers freshman and likely No. 1-overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft Ben Simmons has been lighting the world on fire in his first college basketball season, even if his team hasn’t had the same amount of success that many expected with Simmons’ arrival. That was again on display in the first half on Tuesday night as the Tigers took on the Georgia Bulldogs in Baton Rouge.
Junior guard Tim Quarterman was looking to push the pace for LSU after his team secured a rebound and were out running. That’s when he looked up and saw that Simmons had outran the Georgia defense. Quarterman then tossed up a lob from about halfcourt and it was right on the money for Simmons to rise up and then throw it down for the two-handed flush:
While Simmons has done things more spectacular this season, that’s just a fantastic display. The fact that a guy who is his size and is able to finish that lob on any play also has the speed an athleticism to outrun an entire opposing team to get behind them is just absurd.
These are the types of play we’re going to be seeing next season and likely seeing them often in the NBA. With an NBA point guard tossing up lobs, Ben Simmons might force Lob City to relocate to wherever he gets drafted.
