Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict revealed on Twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers are his favorite team to play as on Madden.
Some people say art imitates life, while some say life imitates art.
And then some people are Vontaze Burfict, and they throw both sayings out the window altogether, along with common sense and conventional wisdom.
In the past, Burfict has made no secret of his open loathing towards the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before the two AFC North rivals met for the third time this season in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs, Burfict was asked for his two cents on Ben Roethlisberger’s team.
“I hate Pittsburgh,” he flatlined. “It’s not personal. That’s just the way it is.”
So imagine everyone’s surprise, then, when Burfict posted this tweet on Tuesday.
Pit is my squad on madden tho @MrHitThat_53 pic.twitter.com/LFkKZQTtce

How does that make any sense?
Apparently the hard-hitting, smack-talking Bengals star can separate reality from fantasy, and even though he’s made no bones about how much he despises the Black and Yellow in the real world, they’re still his favorite team to play as in the cyber world of Madden video game make-believe.
The only real question now is how Cincinnati fans will react.
Can you imagine if Rex Ryan told the press he liked playing Madden as the Patriots? He’d lose his job on the spot. Now Burfict is too good of a player for that to happen in Cincy, but you have to think he’ll at least get roasted by his teammates for this good-natured bit of betrayal.
Play on, Vontaze, play on.
