Providence star Kris Dunn threw down a big dunk after catching a perfect outlet pass from Kyron Cartwright
The No. 10-ranked Providence Friars were making history in their home arena, the Dunkin Donuts Center, on Tuesday night as they welcomed a Big East foe in the No. 7-ranked Xavier Musketeers to town for the arena’s first ever top-10 matchup. Providence star point guard Kris Dunn and fellow guard Kyron Cartwright got the house rocking early in the first half.
After the Friars fell behind early to the Musketeers, Dunn started getting things going for Providence. However, the Dunkin Donuts Center really got loud after Cartwright got a defensive rebound and uncorked a perfect full-court outlet pass to a streaking Dunn who then flushed it home with an emphatic dunk:
"Kris Dunn throws down a dunk & it is LOUD at the Dunkin Donuts Center! #7 @xavierMBB vs #10 @PCFriarsmbb #BIGEAST https://t.co/VGFaY3SdEt— FS1 (@FS1) January 27, 2016"
Kris Dunn’s dunk was certainly a big factor in getting the crowd behind the home team, but that pass was gorgeous in every sense. There’s zero hesitation from Cartwright in finding Dunn and then he hits him right in stride with the pass. That’s normally Dunn making that kind of beautiful pass, but apparently he’s not the only Friar capable of doing so.
Dunn and Providence are really rolling right now in the heart of conference play and look like they could be incredibly dangerous down the stretch in the Big East and well into the NCAA tournament. With plays like this, that’s definitely not hard to imagine at all.
