Kristaps Porzingis is now the NBA’s king of the monstrous putback dunks

The New York Knicks are absolutely in love with Kristaps Porzingis and for good reason. The 7-3 rookie big man has every bit of the makings of a superstar already, just halfway into his first season. While his ability to step out and knock down jumpers and his general proficiency as a player has made him popular, it hasn’t done near as much for his fame as his ability to throw down enormous putback dunks.

The Latvian rookie did just that yet again on Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In the first quarter in Madison Square Garden, Arron Afflalo tried to get a turnaround jumper to fall, but it was just a bit off. However, as the rebound bounced high, Porzingis came flying into the paint and over the top of Thunder big man Serge Ibaka with a huge dunk that only a 7-3 man could pull off:

Not only is Porzingis’ timing on these putback dunks wildly impressive, but he can throw down attempts that literally almost no other player in the league could because of his absolutely absurd length.

There might not be a more rapidly rising star in the NBA right now than Porzingis and that’s been the case basically since his first game at the pro level. If he keeps throwing it down like this, that’s not going to subside anytime soon either.
