Tecmo Bowl ran a simulation of Super Bowl 50 to see how it would play out.

Anticipation for Super Bowl 50 is mounting. The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers are poised to put on a great show and nobody knows what the outcome will be. Luckily, the greatest video game of all time decided to run a simulation to see how the game will play out. Even though it’s from the ’80s, the rosters are updated.

Early on, Cam Newton’s deep ball threat was apparent as he hit Ted Ginn for the opening drive touchdown. Every Tecmo Bowl player used to drop back 20 yards before hurling a deep pass, so it’s good that Cam understands the mechanics of the game.

They even brought out The Mighty Bombjack Show for halftime, which would’ve been better than Coldplay. Is it too late to re-book it?

Ronnie Hillman’s rushing touchdown was the only one the Broncos could get on the board, but the Panthers countered back with Jonathan Stewart to put the game on ice.

In the end, the final score was 17-7 for Carolina. It shouldn’t be that surprising that it was such a low-scoring game, considering the Panthers and Broncos boast two of the best defenses in the NFL, but Carolina’s offense ended up being slightly better on the day. Even though it’s a video game, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the actual Super Bowl play out this way. The Broncos have the proper personnel to limit the Panthers’ free-scoring offense, but will they have enough offense on their own end to balance it out? Only time will tell.
