Panthers owner to pay for entire staff to go to Super Bowl 50
The Carolina Panthers owner has a heart of gold, as his team looks to win some platinum
After the Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals to advance into the Super Bowl, it wasn’t just the players who were rewarded. Team founder and owner Jerry Richardson will pay for all of the team’s staff members to attend Arizona for Super Bowl 50. Richardson is even paying for the interns.
This is not the first time Richardson has done this. He took care of everyone when the team went to Houston for Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004, when the Panthers were facing the New England Patriots. An extremely kind gesture from the man who’s team went 15-1 this season and gained national recognition. This is the second Super Bowl appearance for the Panthers since their inception in 1995.
When reached for comment by the Charlotte Observer, Panthers president Danny Morrison stated, “Mr. Richardson understands that this memorable season would not have been possible without harmony and a complete team effort.” It is not rare for owners to pay for team travel. During the World Series this past year, the Wilpons paid for the entire New York Mets staff to travel to Kansas City to root their team on. It is a smart and generous move for any owner to pay for travel, showing that hard work pays off.
The Panthers already have exciting and electric athletes like Cam Newton, Jerricho Cotchery, Greg Olsen, Michael Oher, Jared Allen and Josh Norman. One only wonders what the people behind the scenes are like. It will be interesting for fans to get a taste of the teams inside men and women when they enter Levi’s Stadium.
