2. Donovan McNabb vs. Terrell Owens

Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens were a prolific duo on Andy Reid’s Philadelphia Eagles teams of the early 2000s. Both were at the peak of their physical powers, and their teaming up was seen by many as a surefire harbinger of championships.

Unfortunately for Eagles fans, those promises were doomed to go unfulfilled, largely thanks to friction between the starting quarterback and his prima donna wide receiver. Owens posted a respectable final stat line in the team’s Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots, despite playing through significant lower body injuries that many thought would prevent him from suiting up. After the game, Owens ignited a controversy by remarking that he “wasn’t the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl,” a perceived dig at McNabb.

The feud intensified as Owens continued to publicly voice his displeasure with Donovan McNabb, Andy Reid, and the Eagles organization as a whole during the 2005 season, until finally the star wideout was suspended four games without pay and subsequently deactivated for the remainder of the year. By season’s end, Owens was excommunicated from the Eagles and his relationship with McNabb was over.
