Manchester United: Marco Reus

Manchester United are in need of some serious quality, especially in attacking areas. After David Moyes was prematurely and unceremoniously dumped, Louis Van Gaal was appointed manager, in what now seems like the worst managerial hiring the Premier League has ever seen. Van Gaal is slowly and painfully destroying one of the world’s greatest clubs. With some very strange transfer decisions being made by Van Gaal, it is anybody’s guess who he will choose to sell and sign, but Marco Reus has to be a player that they target.

United need a world-class winger. Since selling Angel Di Maria in the summer to PSG, a move that was stupid in the first place, the Red Devils are without a wide threat, currently deploying Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial on either wing. While both flash potential, neither are long-term options out wide. Lingard simply isn’t good enough and Martial’s future lies through the middle.

This leaves United in a rather precarious position out wide. The man they need is currently at Borussia Dortmund, and after seeing a host of stars leave the club during his time there, he could well be tempted to jump ship also. Marco Reus has been one of the most threatening wingers in the world over the past few years, and while injuries have stinted his influence on world football, he is still an elite level player, and would be well the worth the £50 million United would have to stump up to get him.
