It’s been a pretty tough season for the injury-smacked New Orleans Pelicans. They were down both Tyreke Evans and Anthony Davis Thursday night against the Kings, and had to resort to starting rookie Bryce Dejean-Jones in the backcourt.
BDJ is in the midst of a 10-day contract he signed back on January 21st. Look at him LOCKING DOWN Pierre the Pelican in the photo above. Clearly he’s got some defensive chops. By the looks of things, he’s making the most of his first NBA start. To this point, the former Iowa State Cyclone has 13 points on solid 5-for-11 shooting, including 3-of-6 from deep.
His first points of the night came on this beautiful drive and jam right over the top of both Omri Casspi and Willie Cauley-Stein:
But that’s not all! A little later in the game, Dejean-Jones got UP to deny Omri Casspi’s layup try at the rim (via @MichaelSGallagher):
Not too shabby for your first big league start.
