Jerry Jones is talking about the Dallas Cowboys, and that’s always a good time.

The Dallas Cowboys have not been to the Super Bowl since 1995, back in the days of Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith. Dallas was a dynasty then, winning three Super Bowls in four years, with the first two coming under head coach Jimmy Johnson.

It seemed like the Cowboys were entering a golden age under new owner Jerry Jones, who bought the team in 1989. Instead, it was the end of good times.

Dallas has not been back to the NFC Championship Game, let alone the Super Bowl, since that time. Jones has brought in hundreds of players and dozens of head and assistant coaches since then, hoping to find the right formula. However, there is one common denominator throughout all the losing; Jones himself. Yet, the owner/general manager continues to be baffled as to why the Cowboys can’t win it all, per Pro Football Talk.

"“Well, I saw how we got there for the first three that I was involved with,” Jones said at the Senior Bowl, via the Dallas Morning News. “I’m the most surprised person in Mobile, or the country, that we haven’t been back to and competed in a Super Bowl. But I know firsthand that you can go from the outhouse to the penthouse, and I’ve experienced it. Consequently, that fact has always driven me to know that it’s just around the corner. There’s a pony in here somewhere.”"

Jones has to be kidding with this nonsense. The Cowboys have not been able to win because the head coaches have been nothing but bad to mediocre, while the personnel is spotty. Sure, Dallas has some excellent offensive pieces in Jason Witten, Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and a quality offensive line, but the defense stinks.

Jones also has some major flaws with character evaluations. He has brought in Terrell Owens, Greg Hardy and Josh Brent among others, continuously backing anything from idiotic to flat-out criminal conduct. Maybe once he hires someone who can evaluate talent, the Cowboys will start winning.
