5. Chicago Bulls

Since all the talk of moving D’Angelo Russell seems absolute crazy, it seems like the right thing to do would be to get the craziest destination out of the way first. While the Chicago Bulls wouldn’t be the best match for a deal with the Lakers, they do have pieces to make things interesting.

They have the expiring contract of Joakim Noah and while Noah is going to be out for an extended period of time, the Bulls could get some depth in return by swapping Noah for Roy Hibbert and his expiring contract. While that solves one part of the deal, the Bulls could then involve young players Bobby Portis and Doug McDermott into the deal for Russell.

The Bulls would also have to add a bevy of draft picks into the deal as well to make the move. They have the Sacramento Kings’ draft pick in 2016, so long as it isn’t picks one through ten. With the Kings vying for a playoff spot at the moment, there’s a real chance the Bulls are getting their pick this year.

They also have their own pick to sweeten the pot and with Noah’s contract coming off the books at the end of the year, it’s essentially two young players with potential and two first round picks for Russell, which isn’t a bad haul.

The Lakers probably get even more out of the Bulls if they really wanted to in a deal for Russell, but the deal itself looks good on paper, especially if they could work something out in free agency with Noah.
