4. Hassan Whiteside – Miami Heat

Perhaps the most controversial player who is going to appear on this list of snubs, Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside has been one of the most fascinating players in the NBA over the past two seasons. After coming out of nowhere and looking like a star in the absence of Chris Bosh at the end of last season, the question was whether or not Whiteside would be able to continue that level of production with a full Heat roster.

Through the first 41 games, though, Whiteside has at least answered that question in terms of his statistical production. Even playing only 28.9 minutes per game, the 26-year-old center has still managed to put up 12.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, and an incredible 3.9 blocks per contest whiel also shooting a more than solid 61.3 percent from the field. He’s been able to put up the numbers, but the jury is still out on whether or not those stats are just superficial or wholly meaningful.

That being said, Whiteside’s statistical output is impressive and unique enough that he was certainly in consideration for an All-Star Game nod in the East. It’s hard to specifically identify a frontcourt player in the East he’s more deserving than, but as a wild card pick for the reserves, he would have more than made sense.
