Neymar: ‘Would love to play in the USA’

In a recent interview with Red Bull, Neymar admitted that one day he’d like to play in the United States. 

Neymar is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable faces in all of world soccer. The Brazilian helped Barcelona win a treble last year, and was also a finalist for the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or Award.

At just 23-years-old, Neymar is still at the beginning of what is sure to be an illustrious career filled with trophies and success. However, the star admitted in a recent interview with Red Bull, that he has already begun thinking of where he’d eventually like to end his career.

“I have the will to go back to Brazil some day and I also would like to play in [the] USA – those two countries are two where I want to play later on in my career,” Neymar said, via Goal. “[The USA] is a place where the game is growing and attracting the interest of lots of players, who are becoming more and more popular there.

While fans across North America will likely have to wait a few more years to watch the Brazilian ply his trade professionally in Major League Soccer, they will have the opportunity to watch him feature for his country during this summer’s Copa America Centenario.

Neymar’s current club, Barcelona, sit atop the La Liga standings with 48 points from 20 matches. They will host Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou in a crucial contest on Saturday morning, with the winner taking top spot in the league.

The Catalans booked their spot in the Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday by beating Athletic Bilbao 5-2 on aggregate, and also remain alive in UEFA Champions League competition.

Neymar has 16 goals and nine assists in 17 league games for his side this season, as he continues to be one of the game’s biggest stars.
